April 05 When you have a fresh idea...As a novice researcher, two cases might be occurred to you when you suddenly have a fresh idea. In one case, you are getting very excited because you find an absolutely new idea. You thought no one could think of that. Be careful! The world is so large that there is nothing human beings cannot imagine. What you regard as innovation, in fact, has potentially been visited by many other researchers. It is evident that you are outside of that field. Hence, you need to explore far more into that area. In the other case, you are getting desperated because you find the topic you are interested in has be studied numerous times by uncountable researchers. No worries! There is no same leaves in the world. You may find your own way into the field based on a number of readings and studies. It is likely that you propose a different theoretical framework. It is also likely that you adopt different methodology for the research, or you just duplicate the study. However, you could contribute to the field with your own investigation. Therefore, you had better not to be too excited when you have a fresh idea; and you need not to be too disapointed when you find your fresh idea is actually an outdated idea in the eyes of other researchers. You, as a researcher, have the power to bring forward the hidden voice or make familiarites strange but interesting. 谈外语教学中的科研方法
